The Science Film Festival Myanmar 2025 marked the 14th edition of the festival, continuing an annual tradition that began in 2012. Implemented in a hybrid format from 14 November to 20 December, the festival combined in-person screenings at the Goethe-Institut Myanmar with online access via a video-on-demand platform, ensuring continued outreach despite challenging circumstances. Under the theme “Green Jobs”, the program presented international films addressing sustainability, environmentally responsible career paths, and contemporary scientific topics.
To maximise accessibility, most films were dubbed into the local language, with selected titles also shown with English subtitles. Screenings were complemented by educational activities and discussions designed to encourage scientific curiosity among children and students, delivered in collaboration with local partners and community groups. Through a partnership with the Myanmar YMCA and its SDSYE project team (Sustainable Development through Strengthening Youth Employment), the festival expanded its regional reach to Taunggyi, Naypyitaw, Mandalay, Pyin Oo Lwin, and the Sagaing Region from 1 to 13 December. In total, the festival delivered more than 30 physical screenings and engaged over 7,000 participants across Myanmar.
