The Philippines

13th Edition
The Science Film Festival presented its 13th edition in the Philippines through a month-long festival that took place last November 3 to December 3, 2022. A total of 45 films were screened online and on-site for free to present an outstanding opportunity for participants to learn more about 2022’s theme “Equal Opportunities in Science”.

On November 7, an opening program was held at the Philippine Science High School, attended by 172 students and our local partners, including Rolls-Royce as key partner in Southeast Asia. This was the first on-site opening since the pandemic started after holding Science Film Festival screenings online only for the previous two years.

After the opening program, simultaneous screenings were held in various campuses of the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) system led by their national executive director, Mrs. Lilia Habacon. The festival was also screened online at various schools nationwide. A total of 9 361 people registered for the festival this year.

The Science Film Festival Philippines is made possible through the endorsements of our major partners from the Department of Education led by the Vice-President of the Philippines, Sara Duterte, the Department of Science and Technology led by Sec. Renato Solidum Jr., and the Quezon City Education Affairs Unit led by Mayor Joy Belmonte and our other local partners from Museo ng Muntinlupa, The Mind Museum, Museo Pambata, Philippine Science Centrum, Felta Multimedia, National Library of the Philippines, Liceo de Cagayan University, and Xavier University.
