14th Edition
The 14th Science Film Festival Philippines offi cially opened last October 25 with a special screening of the fi lm “Checker Tobi: The Garbage Checker” at one of our venue partners, the Museo ng Muntinlupa. Several students from neighboring schools attended the event, which was graced by the city’s vice mayor and other museum offi cials. Another special screening was held on November 15 at the Philippine Science High School Central Luzon Campus where we had a special program and screening of the fi lm “Redesigning the Wheel” with our guest speaker Nicola Sebastian, author, National Geographic explorer and co-founder of Emerging Islands.

Online and on-site screenings of our roster of 34 science edutainment fi lms were held from October 26 to December 01, organized by our venue partners: Museo ng Muntinlupa, National Library of the Philippines, Philippine Science High Schools, DOST Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), University of the Philippines Film Institute (UPFI), University of the Philippines Department of Science Communication (UPCDC), University of the Philippines National Institute of Science and Mathematics Education Development (UPNISMED), The Climate Reality Project, The Mind Museum, and VegFest Pilipinas. Screenings in selected public schools and science high schools nationwide were also organized by the Department of Education and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). Rolls-Royce was a key regional partner of the Science Film Festival in the Philippines and fi ve other countries in Southeast Asia in 2023.

In total, the Science Film Festival Philippines hosted 147,096 visitors, making it the largest and longest running science event in the Philippines.

Show all Pre-Jury Members of the Philippines

Over 30 pre-jury members with expertise in science education and science communication in the participating countries and in-depth knowledge of the local target audience are closely involved in the selection process. All films are translated and synchronized or subtitled into local languages where necessary to offer access without language barriers.
