Panel discussion
With Anna Leube, Marco Federici Solari and Piero Salabè

Introduction and welcome: Maria Carolina Foi, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Berlin; Anne-Bitt Gerecke, head of the Goethe Institute’s Litrix Programme

The Italian writers Anna Maria Ortese and Dolores Prato and the German writers Irmgard Keun and Anna Seghers are amongst the most important literary voices crying out to be (re-)discovered in Germany and Italy. New translations of their work into German and Italian are deservedly rekindling interest in the novels of these four great authors.

Anna Leube was for many years a reader at the Carl Hanser Verlag and is a translator from English and Italian. She has translated Alberto Savinio, Italo Svevo, Giovanni Verga und Claudio Magris, among others.

Marco Federici Solari is a translator and publisher. In 2011, together with Lorenzo Flabbi, he founded the publishing house L’Orma, specialising in translations from German and French.

Piero Salabè works as a translator and as a publisher’s reader specialising in Italian books. In 2019 a volume of his poetry, Il bel niente, was published by La nave di Teseo.
