The odds are against him, however: he is an uncommunicative and solitary character without a family and doesn’t seem to be fit for re-socialization. Director Karl Markovics was born in 1963 in Vienna. He starred as Salomon Sorowitsch in Stefan Ruzowitzky’s Foreign Language Oscar winner The Counterfeiters (2007). Breathing is his first feature as a writer and director. He is also a respected stage actor.
