FREE AS A BIRD The man who invented Lufthansa's brand-mark, Otto Firle, is said to have been thinking of a crane when he came up with the design. The abstract bird was later squeezed into this ring. While it is one of the most beautiful German logos of all time, it is making a problematic statement: Is the crane caught in the circle like passengers in the Economy Class?
