1. Written examination held in groups (70 minutes)

• You will listen to short everyday conversations, personal phone messages or public announcements over a loudspeaker and do realistic exercises on them.
• You will read texts such as brief notes, classified advertisements, signposts or posters and do exercises on them.
• You will fill in typical simple forms and write a short personal text in response to a letter, e-mail message or fax.

2. Oral examination held individually or in twos (15 minutes)

You introduce yourself in a conversation. You ask and reply to questions on everyday matters and you make some arrangements with your conversation partner.

Assessment

The Goethe-Zertifikat A2: Start Deutsch 2 is conducted and assessed the same way all over the world. Each candidate’s written papers and oral performance are evaluated separately by two examiners at the examination centre in question who apply uniform criteria.
