Goethe Lounge: Volant

Die zweite Veranstaltung in unserer neuen Goethe Lounge Reihe wird ein ganz besonderer Abend werden, da die Band Volant unter der Leitung des Saxophonisten Matthew Ottignon die Veröffentlichung ihres neuen Albums feiert. Das introspektive akustische Jazz-Quartett besteht neben Ottignon aus der Pianistin Lauren Tsamouras, der Bassistin Hannah James und der Schlagzeugerin Holly Conner.

Durch detaillierte Proben und Auftritte haben Volant ihren Kompositionen erlaubt, sich auf natürliche Weise zu entwickeln, was zu einem Sound führt, der sowohl zutiefst persönlich als auch universell ist. Das Album wurde am 26. Juli 2024 über Earshift Music veröffentlicht.

Über die Entstehung von Volant sagt Ottignon: „Dieses Album ist voller hoffnungsvolle Musik, die aus einer Zeit tiefer Selbstbeobachtung entstanden ist, inspiriert von den unzähligen Klängen, die mich im Laufe der Jahre beeinflusst haben, darunter The Necks und John Coltrane.“

Diese Veranstaltung wird gemeinsam vom Goethe-Institut und der Sydney Improvised Music Association (SIMA) präsentiert.
