Language assistance programs give future teachers the chance to strengthen their language skills while gaining valuable classroom experience in multilingual settings. Through close interaction with learners, participants develop intercultural awareness, teaching confidence, and practical pedagogical skills. These experiences prepare aspiring teachers to support linguistic diversity and succeed in inclusive, modern classrooms.

Application deadlines for the coming year will be announced later this year.

Language Assistant Program in Victoria and Western Australia

Thanks to long-standing cooperation with education departments across Australia, student teachers from Germany have the opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience in three Australian states.

In Western Australia and Victoria, the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) places participants in schools that offer German as a subject.
Further information about the PAD Language Assistant Programme can be found here: Pädagogischer Austauschdienst

A new agreement with the Department for Education in South Australia has created an additional placement in Adelaide, coordinated through the Goethe-Institut Melbourne.
