Alexandra Ivanova Trio | Canberra
Jazz Concert|Intercultural Jazz Trio in Australia
-
Smith's Alternative, Canberra
- Part of series: Alexandra Ivanova Trio | Australia
Sensitivity and captivating rhythms characterise the sound of Alexandra Ivanova Trio. The Austrian-born, now Berlin-based pianist and composer of Bulgarian roots has experienced a range of cultural influences, giving her an “unorthodox approach to her compositions” (All About Jazz).
With Austrian Judith Ferstl on double bass and Argentinean-German Axel Filip on drums, the trio navigates between Jazz, Eastern classical music (Maqam), odd meters from the Balkan and Afro-Cuban claves.
“In every sense of the word, a musician out of the ordinary” (Jazz Thing).
The tour is supported by the Austrian Embassy and the Goethe-Institut in Australia.
