Students of the College of Europe visit Brussels

As part of its Europanetzwerk Deutsch program and in the context of its cooperation project with the College of Europe in Bruges, the Goethe-Institut Brussels invites students from the College annually to a business breakfast or lunch. Most recently, the students were guests on May 5, 2026, and had the opportunity to engage in discussions with invited alumni of the Europanetzwerk Deutsch. A special guest was Susanne Lada’a, Head of the Political Department at the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the EU, who gave a presentation offering fascinating insights into her diverse responsibilities as well as the workings and decision-making processes of the EU institutions. The Europanetzwerk Deutsch would like to express its gratitude for this enriching exchange!

Goethe-Institut Excellence Award - German Language Prize for IRD Students

The long-standing cooperation between the Goethe-Institut in the frame of Europanetzwerk Deutsch and the College of Europe in Bruges enables all students to attend German courses on a regular basis. The annual award of a scholarship for the best academic achievement in German of the course "EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies" is a highlight of this programme. The scholarship holder who receives the award has the opportunity to take part in an intensive language course in Germany. The aim of this course is to deepen the student's knowledge of German and to immerse him/herself in German culture. The course takes place at different locations (e.g. Berlin, Munich or Freiburg) and depends on the individual availability of the award winner. Alternatively, the scholarship can also be taken up online.

I feel more confident in my German and have met lots of interesting people from all over the world. I really enjoyed the Goethe-Institut’s cultural programme. I would like to continue learning German and practise the language in my diplomatic work and whilst travelling.

Thanks to the Europanetzwerk scholarship […], I was able to further my studies of the German language in a motivating environment. But I didn’t just improve my language skills. Through the cultural and free-time program, I had the opportunity to explore Munich and make new friends.

In Berlin, I didn't just learn German. I also visited many museums and discovered new places. Plus, I met new friends from all over the world. The intensive course was a very special experience, and I'm glad I took it.
