Halaqat - Exploring cultural links between Europe and the Arab world

Bozar

In December, Halaqat will vibrate, exploring different musical genres: Jazz, electronic and global music. After six years, the Lebanese singer Abeer Nehme is our guest again at Bozar. Her artistic sensibility, her stage presence and above all her voice make her one of the most renown singers in the Middle East today.

After her performance with the Belgian National Orchestra in 2016, singer-songwriter Abeer Nehme returns to the grand hall of Bozar with a 17-strong ensemble and a choir of brilliant musicians from the Mediterranean and the Arab world by her side. They invite you on a musical journey that will take you from traditional Aramean chants to Levantine folk songs, including works by Zaki Nassif, Filmon Wahbé and Wadih Al Safi. Nehme presents an homage to one of the world’s most diverse regions, illustrating both the diversity and the harmony of the Levant, a region she understands well thanks to her ethnomusicological education and her fascination with the Arab world.
