First Stage: Fotoworkshop

The project kicked off with a photography workshop for seven promising photographers at the Goethe-Institut in Addis Abeba led by Andy Spyra. With the theme "Water in Ethiopia" setting the frame for the creative process and through a blend of lectures, field work and group/individual consultations, the group experimented with classic and contemporary techniques of visual storytelling while co-producing photo stories and photo series that surprise, inform, provoke and facilitate the exchange of ideas.

Throughout the workshop period, the seven photographers explored the theme through photographs shot in and around Addis Abeba in April 2022. The photo stories and photo series produced during this stage was presented through an online exhibition on the Goethe-Institut website.
