"DEBO"

DEBO means unity in Amharic. 
 
Jazzamba initiated the DEBO sessions together with the Yared Music School, TMS and the Mekane Yesus Jazz Music School in 2015. DEBO uses an open workshop format and takes place twice a month in different venues in Addis Ababa. Teachers and students from all four music schools in Addis Ababa take part in these workshops which are attended by more than 200 students providing an essential platform for performing and exchanging ideas in the vibrant Addis music scene.
 
The teachers perform masterclasses and students perform with their bands. After the performances the students are invited to ask questions and offer advice and criticism to each other. They also discuss music related issues. Visiting artists are also invited to hold masterclasses where they perform
