To escape the Nazis, her father Arthur Kemper, a well-known Jewish journalist, has to flee abroad. His family - Anna, her twelve-year-old brother Max and their mother Dorothea - follows him to Switzerland a short time later. Anna has to leave almost everything behind, including her beloved pink stuffed rabbit, and face a new life full of challenges and hardships in a foreign country.
