Digital Concert Hall 

This concert is Joana Mallwitz’ debut with the Berliner Philharmoniker in March 2025. Her ability to engage audiences from the first note, she brings a program full of contrasts and color.

The concert opens with Prokofiev’s dramatic overture to War and Peace. Anna Vinnitskaya joins as soloist for Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 – one of the most challenging works ever written for piano.

The program also includes Hindemith’s symphony Mathis der Maler, inspired by the Isenheim Altarpiece and reflecting the composer’s struggle during the rise of National Socialism. The work premiered in 1934 with the Philharmoniker under Wilhelm Furtwängler and remains a milestone of 20th-century music..
