Emmanuelle Haïm conducts Handel and Rameau

Emmanuelle Haïm conducts orchestral works by George Frideric Handel (1685–1759) and Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683–1764).

At the centre of the programme is Handel’s Water Music, written for an open air royal celebration in 1717. Its clear melodies and lively rhythms made it an immediate success and secured its lasting popularity.

The concert also focuses on Rameau, one of the most inventive composers of the French Baroque. Two suites compiled from his operas show his rich imagination and expressive range, from gentle lyricism to energetic dance movements.

Known for her deep knowledge of Baroque style and her precise, energetic approach, Emmanuelle Haïm brings clarity and focus to this programme of orchestral classics.
