Networks of Belonging : Hussein Merghani
Watercolor Exhibition | curated by Abel Assefa
Networks of Belonging is a regional project that brings together Sudanese artists living across Sub-Saharan Africa to explore themes of identity, displacement, and belonging through art. As part of this project, Sudanese artist Hussein Merghani presents a series of watercolor paintings inspired by his experiences and travels across Ethiopia.
Through journeys to Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa, Harar, and Lalibela, Hussein observed the people, landscapes, and everyday moments that connect and distinguish Sudanese and Ethiopian life. His paintings capture memories, encounters, and personal reflections, offering a thoughtful and intimate view of place, movement, and cultural connection. Using the fluid and expressive nature of watercolor, the exhibition invites audiences to engage with stories of belonging, shared experiences, and life across borders.
The exhibition is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
