Strengthening Georgia’s Cultural and Creative Industries

Creative Skills Academy - a new educational initiative in collaboration with the Design Institute.
This capacity-building platform bridges creativity and business. It supports professional development of creative individuals, community building, and sustainability of creative ventures.

The Creative Skills Academy aims to

  • Equip creative individuals from regional areas with practical business, entrepreneurial, and digital skills.
  • Provide opportunities for participants to share experiences, build networks, and increase their visibility.

Who the Programme Is For and Why It Matters

The Creative Skills Academy targets individuals living and operating in the regions of Georgia to support them in making a meaningful contribution to their region’s and Georgia’s creative economy.

Potential participants of the Academy include:
  • Early-stage creative entrepreneurs seeking to formalise or scale their ventures.
  • Creative individuals across CCI subsectors.
  • Cultural professionals and project managers aiming to strengthen business and entrepreneurial skills.
  • Creatives with existing ideas requiring validation, structuring, or support for market entry.

Academy Structure

The Creative Skills Academy combines structured learning consisting of multiple modules with shorter learning inputs. Its hybrid model combines online education with in-person gatherings, divided into two main components:
  1. Creative Business Basics (CBB) programme - a six-month programme for selected participants with a qualified confirmation of attendance.
  2. Short-term learning opportunities - sessions, masterclasses and keynotes for a broader group across the cultural and creative industries.

Collaboration

The Creative Skills Academy is realised in a collaboration between the Goethe-Institut Georgien and the Design Institute - a Georgian educational and research institution specialising in design-driven learning, creative entrepreneurship, and human-centred innovation. With extensive experience in hybrid education formats, long-term training programmes, and sector-specific mentorship, the Design Institute supports the high-quality delivery of the Academy’s learning, mentoring, and networking components.

The Creative Skills Academy envisages the engagement of mentors and industry experts to support emerging ventures of participants and contribute to the growth of a professional and inclusive creative ecosystem. This network of qualified professionals has a real-world experience in business, finance, law, marketing, and creative entrepreneurship. Continuous participant support, structured feedback, and mentorship will greatly strengthen learning outcomes.
