In a Munich suburb: "Marie belongs to Erich, Paul sleeps with Helga, Peter lives on Elisabeth's money and Rosy sells her body to Franz".  Then the appearance of Jorgos, a Greek immigrant worker, brings commotion into the dull, placid life of this group of bored, young Germans. The Greek's mere presence is sufficient to turn the latent xenophobia into bitter conflict. Staged in the manner of Fassbinder’s play Katzelmacher, which premiered 1968 in a Munich theatre, the film’s static images portray a stifling and stagnant milieu and a crippled society. This early work was a milestone in the young filmmaker’s career.
