The award "Best Book Design from Germany" (Die schönsten deutschen Bücher) with its tradition of over 60 years shows the best-crafted German books each year. They are quality books demonstrating the creativity in design and high standard of technical workmanship and printing technology.
Nearly 1000 books compete for the title every year and evaluated by professional jury (Book designer, Publisher, librarians) to conclude the 25 awarded books. The five categories (General Literature; Academic Works and Educational Textbooks; Guides and Non-Fiction; Art and Photography, Exhibition Catalogues; Children's and Young People's Books) represent the highest design principles and the latest trends in the publishing industry in Germany.
Additionally in this year, the National Library of China Publishing House (NLCPH) will showcase its latest books, which are not only resonant and insightful in content, but also designed with elegant binding.
The Goethe-Institut Hongkong, in collaboration with National Library China Publishing House, will present the awarded books of "Best Book Design from Germany" in the years 2014 and 2015, and 34 other remarkable Chinese books. From the books, readers will feel dimensions of book design, creativity and binding techniques, thus experiencing the multiple layers of designing styles from the West and the East.
