German Children's Literature Award 2020

Book Exhibition

  • Goethe-Institut Hongkong Library, Hong Kong

Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis 2020

Every year, almost 9,000 titles appear on the German-language children's and young adults' book market. Since 1956, the German Children's Literature Award has been given annually to outstanding works of children's and young adult literature. The goal of the award is to strengthen children and young adults in their personal development and to offer guidance to the vast German book market. Three independent juries - the Jury of Critics, the Young Adult Jury and the Special Award Jury - are responsible for the selection. The Award has been international since it was established: books that have been translated from other languages are just as eligible as German books.

In March, the library of the Goethe-Institut Hong Kong will present a selection of shorlisted and winning books of the German Children's Literature Award 2020 as well as newly published children's and young adults' literature in 2020. The books on display can be pre-ordered and will be available for loan from April 1. A complete list of the books on display can be found here.

Accompanying the book exhibition is a free screening of silhouette films by Lotte Reiniger on 7. March. Families are cordially invited to the film screening as well as the short presentation about the offers of Kinderecke, our children's corner in the library.
