The concept of the work “ji5 muk6 ming6” comes from the transformation of rails and pedestrian barriers that represent restrictions into street musical instruments that encourage interaction.

The artist Yim Sui Fong and sound artist Andio Lai will present a live electronic sound performance with "ji5 muk6 ming6”, using the contact microphone and synthesizers invented by Andio Lai in the work “Play 4 Lab”.

The rails and pedestrian barriers divided the space as if this is the distribution of rhythm on music score sheet; knocking the rails created sound similar to that of a bell, thus transforming the room into a tangible sharing space.

This performance is not a piece of trained and pleasure music, but rather a sonic experience celebrating the indeterminacy in music and the potential of sound in the city.
