An industrial robot is standing by itself in a remote factory hall. A remnant of a time when machines did the work for us humans, it still carries out the assembly movements it was programmed to do - even though it has not had any meaningful work to do for quite a while. Out of an antagonistic moment, human beings and machines start communicating with each other using movement and dance. Their encounter becomes a magical moment of being swept along together.
In "kinesphere", the 17 dancers of the company led by soloist Gabriela Zorzete Finardi interact with an industrial robot - and with the audience. The audience is drawn into the maelstrom of the movements and experiences the action at close quarters through VR goggles. Theatre in a new dimension.
Staatstheater Augsburg is a pioneer for digital productions in Germany. We are showing "kinesphere" for the first time outside Germany in this digital guest performance. Participants from the artistic team will then be guests in an audience discussion live via zoom.
