Through the ages, humans have always resorted to marriage. No crisis - not even a war - can stop people from getting married. Nokas doesn’t feel any different. The 27-year-old from East Nusa Tenggara is keen on marrying Ci, a pretty young woman who works on a chicken farm.
However, it is not that simple to marry in East Nusa Tenggara. Men are obliged to offer a significant dowry to the bride’s family. The sum of the dowry is often an immense burden for the groom-to-be. At times, this tradition has reduced the meaning of marriage into a mere business transaction.
Through an observational approach, this film follows Nokas’ struggle to get the dowry so he can finally be married to the love of his life.
