#Musictalk with Gardika Gigih

Gardika Gigih is a composer and pianist born in Sragen, 1990. He studied music composition at the Indonesian Art Institute of Yogyakarta and then continued his anthropology studies at Gadjah Mada University. His compositional works have been performed in several countries, including Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and the Netherlands.

Besides composing for solo instruments in orchestras, he is also active as a pianist. But his approach in playing the piano is a little different. He likes to improvise and explore music that is more intuitive and spontaneous. In 2017 he released his solo album “Nyala” with the label Sorge Records. He is currently preparing for an electronic piano-based improvised duo project with Tomy Herseta for the work “PHASE”.
