From April to September 2026, the Goethe-Institut Bandung together with BBB Book Club will organize a virtual Leseclub (Reading Club) every two months. The program aims to introduce German literature and culture through works that explore social issues, humanity, and modern life.

In the June edition, the Goethe-Institut Bandung and Buibu Baca Buku Book Club will hold a literary discussion on the works of Michael Ende from the perspective of adult readers. Children’s literature is often regarded merely as entertainment, yet many of these works contain philosophical depth and social criticism that remain highly relevant to adult life. Through works such as Momo and The Neverending Story, Michael Ende reflects on themes of time, identity, humanity, and the loss of imagination in an increasingly pragmatic modern world.

This discussion will bring together the academic perspective of Kamelia Gantrisia, M.Hum. from the German Studies Program at Universitas Padjadjaran with the reading experience of Away, a children’s literature enthusiast who actively shares literary reflections through Instagram. Through this dialogue, participants are invited to rediscover children’s literature as a space for nurturing imagination, expanding empathy, and developing a deeper sensitivity toward the world around us. Leseclub is a literary discussion program that aims to introduce modern German literature translated into Indonesian or English to readers in Indonesia. Beyond discussing literary works, Leseclub also explores broader social and cultural themes related to everyday life in Germany, such as social inequality, migration, and humanitarian issues.

Buibu Baca Buku Book Club (BBB Book Club) is a literacy community that aims to empower women through reading culture and critical thinking. Currently, BBB Book Club has more than 3,000 members and reaches an audience of over 55,000 across various digital platforms.
