The Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Mumbai is looking for a dynamic individual as Coordinator for Cultural Programmes from 01.07.2025. The average weekly working period is 40 hours. The position is initially for two years, with the option to extend.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitoring the local cultural scene and maintaining the institute’s cultural network in India and Germany
- Contributing to the conception, planning and execution of cultural events in coordination with the manager of cultural programmes and the institute director
- Handling technical and legal questions related to the cultural programs (contracts, logistics, transport, licenses, permits, customs, etc.)
- Assisting in coordinating regional projects in coordination with the regional team in New Delhi and the teams of the participating institutes in South Asia
- Coordinating the press and public relations work of the cultural department (including press, website, newsletter, social media, etc.)
- Developing web and social media content in coordination with manager of cultural programme
- Compiling reports, content-related and statistical information for the cultural programmes of the institute
- Completing and submitting the administrative documents required for payments and accounting
PREREQUISITES:
- University degree in the arts/humanities (min. Bachelor's)
- Experience in project management
- In-depth knowledge of the current German and Indian cultural scenes
- Excellent conceptual and organisational skills
- Very good knowledge of written and spoken English; knowledge of German, and Marathi desirable
- Experience in press and public relations
- Strong digital competence
- Ability to perform administrative tasks as required
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends, and to travel on work
