Contract Teacher for Language Courses and Examinations

Full-time employment | Compensation according to the local compensation scheme of the Goethe-Institut in Sri Lanka

We are looking for a dedicated colleague starting on October 15, 2023. As a contract teacher for language courses and examinations, as well as a contact person for DLL (Teaching German as a Foreign Language), your responsibilities, in coordination with the language department management, primarily include:

  • Teaching German as a Foreign Language (DaF) at all levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and for various target groups in different formats (in-person and hybrid courses, corporate courses, intercultural training courses), including preparation and follow-up.
  • Developing your own teaching materials.
  • Designing, conducting, and evaluating training sessions.
  • Participating in the preparation and administration of Goethe-Institute examinations at all levels.
  • Providing written and oral learning support for course participants.
  • Conducting course evaluations and participant surveys.
  • Participating in internal conferences, training sessions, classroom observations, and professional conferences.
  • Contributing to the quality management of language courses and examinations.
  • Ensuring quality at the local and regional levels.
  • Collaborating with local educational authorities, universities, and school principals.
  • Evaluating and developing teaching materials and examination procedures.
  • Collaborating with other departments and external partners.
  • Planning, conducting, and evaluating training measures for DaF teachers and teaching methods for using digital media.
  • Developing teaching materials and concepts for the Green Diploma and coordinating and conducting corresponding examinations.
Requirements:
  • Completed university degree, preferably in DaF (German as a Foreign Language).
  • Training as a teacher for German as a Foreign Language (Grünes Diplom or equivalent qualification).
  • Very good knowledge of German (at C1/C2 level).
  • Extensive teaching experience in the field of German as a Foreign Language at preferably all levels.
  • Experience in teacher training.
  • Knowledge of DLL (Teaching German as a Foreign Language) in DLL-based teacher training.
  • Good knowledge and use of common Microsoft Office products, especially MS Outlook, as well as internal Goethe-Institut software.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, as well as organizational and coordination skills.
  • Strong team and communication skills, intercultural competence, and high resilience.
  • Willingness to work on weekends.
  • Willingness to travel for work.
