Open Call Photography Project ‘Humanity and Earth’

The Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka takes pleasure in inviting you to participate in a new photography competition. Apply with your photo story on the idea of : Humanity and Earth

Share your ideas about what saving our environment, climate change and the responsibilities and challenges to us as humans mean to you and the island you are living in. With a chance to receive professional feedback, visualize your thoughts and observations in a photographic manner and express your talents to a jury of professionals from Germany and Sri Lanka. The selected candidates will participate in a unique mentored photography workshop, develop photo essays and display their photographs to the public.

Photo competition procedure:
 Fill out the application form and send it together with the portfolio by the 30th April 2018 to
humanity-and-earth@goethe.de

10 photographers will be selected by Andy Spyra (Germany) and Liz Fernando (Germany/Sri Lanka) by 6th May 2018.
The 10 winners will be invited to a free mentored photography workshop held 1st- 10th June 2018 that will take place in an all island roundtrip starting in Colombo, led by Andy Spyra and Liz Fernando.The photographic results of the workshop will be published online on the website of Goethe-Institut and at a screening event.
 
Instructions:
 
The photos must be original works of your own and shall not be older than 2 years and thus must not be shot before 2016.
Further instructions for the portfolio:
*Who can participate?

Citizens** and residents*** of Sri Lanka between 18 and 35 years of age with a portfolio of up to 20 photographs. If selected, applicants must be available to attend and be free to travel with us during the workshop. The workshop will be held in English, thus applicants should have a good command of the English language.
 
**no Overseas Sri Lankans *** residents of all nationalities
