Join us for Aura in the Vault: A Workshop on the Construction of Art Value with artist-in-residence Jacob Höfle.
What makes an artwork valuable? Is it the artist's labour, the story behind the work, the institutions that endorse it, or the market that assigns its price?
Drawing from his ongoing research projectAura in the Vault, Jacob Höfle invites participants to unpack the systems that shape the value of contemporary art. Through a presentation and hands-on group exercises, participants will transform everyday objects into artworks by creating titles, conceptual narratives, imagined histories, and speculative market values, examining how artistic value is produced, circulated, and contested.
The workshop concludes with an open discussion on the realities of today's art world, questioning who benefits from these systems of value and how they might be reimagined.
Participants are encouraged to bring an everyday object they find interesting or discover one during the workshop.
Come ready to think critically, collaborate, and reconsider what makes art and value.
