German in Aotearoa New Zealand

​In July 2019, 41 fabulous teachers of German from all around New Zealand spent the first three days of the winter school holidays sharing ideas and skills with each other at the Goethe-Institut in Wellington, aka the „GANZ-marae“.

In addition to the annual general meeting of the German teachers‘ association, GANZ (German in Aotearoa New Zealand), participants were offered 14 different workshops on topics ranging from Wellbeing to E-Learning, and from integrating Te Reo into foreign language programmes to working inclusively with autistic students. The overall theme was „Deutsch in Bewegung“ or „German on the move“, and many sessions involved movement from singing and dancing through theatre to a hugely active version of the „Chaos-Spiel“. All workshops were run by practising teachers and all participants were actively involved and made valuable contributions.

The German Language in New Zealand is in good hands.
