Poster Film Series In the Face of Crime

In the Face of Crime is a depiction of Russian-Jewish culture, detailing the emotions and mindsets of various ethnic groups, their religious roots, family life, traditions and celebrations. The series reveals a panorama of diverse communities and journeys through an array of worlds, from a village in the Ukraine to life in the urban sprawl of Berlin. “Im Angesicht des Verbrechens” recounts not only the criminal motivations, temptations and seductions of the milieu, but also reveals the people who want to bring about change, who have ideals, who believe in their community and are prepared to fight for it together.

In the Face of Crime, directed by Dominik Graf, was first shown at the 60th Berlinale – the German counterpart of the Academy Awards – and has been described by critics as “ambitious”, “intelligent” and “gripping”.

All ten episodes of the series are shown in German with English subtitles.

The screenings will take place every Wednesday evening
at 6:00 PM
at the Goethe-Institut library.

Admission is always free and the film showings are open to everybody.
