Featuring films by ANDREAS DRESEN
This new film series will feature seven of the best works of renowned German filmmaker
Andreas Dresen.
Born in 1963 in Gera, he studied at the Konrad Wolf University of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg after an internship in the DEFA-Film Studios in Potsdam-Babelsberg and assisting director Günther Reisch. He has worked as a freelance writer and director since 1992.
His films include many excellent works, such as NIGHTSHAPES (1999), GRILLPOINT (2002), HERR WICHMANN VON DER CDU (2002), SUMMER IN BERLIN (2006), CLOUD 9 (2008) AND WHISKEY WITH VODKA (2009).
In addition, Dresen has also directed the theatre production of Goethe’s “Urfaust“ at the Staatstheater in Cottbuss (1996), his own play “Zeugenstand“ at the German Theatre Berlin (2002) and Horvath’s “Kasimir und Karoline“ (2006) at the same theatre. In February 2006, he directed Mozart’s opera “Don Giovanni“, in Basel.
Our selection is composed of seven films, all of which will be shown in German with English subtitles.
Admission is always free and the film showings are open to everybody.
