Description

The protagonist Hans Hase is the decisive identification figure for little learners. He lives in a suitcase from which he emerges every lesson and into which he always returns at the end. Through him, the children find access to the foreign language, because Hans Hase speaks and understands only German.
The desire to communicate with Hans Hase creates the motivation to understand German and speak it. Listening, singing, doing handicrafts and playing, the children get to know Hans Hase and thus gently enter the world of the German language.

The material is divided into three parts. These are further divided into sub-chapters:

German modules for children
The individual modules tie in with the units in the material package. This makes it possible to expand the topics, provide more linguistic impetus, and create new communication situations. Another solution is to work with the modules following the material package. The topics once dealt with are taken up again and discussed from a new aspect. Of course, the modules can also be used independently of the material package, as a supplement to the course-carrying textbook. Each module is a small, self-contained project that can be completed in an average of three to four lessons.

WORKING WITH STORIES, FAIRY TALES AND SONGS

Stories and fairy tales, and sometimes songs, serve as the basis for the individual modules. The listening and/or reading experience is complemented by numerous activities that serve to develop the children's foreign language skills and at the same time encourage the development of their personalities. Play and fun are central. It is important that the children feel comfortable while learning, that the atmosphere is relaxed and that enough time and space is provided for an action-oriented approach to the language.

STRUCTURE OF THE MODULES

The structure of each module is the same. In the guide, the topic and content are given first. These are followed by the objectives and the list of materials. At the end of each module description, there is a lesson plan, worked out in small steps, which should help the educators to realize it. Important components of the modules are the picture cards, task sheets and handicraft templates, which can be downloaded free of charge.

TARGET GROUP

The modules are designed for children ages 8-10, but they can easily be adapted for slightly younger or older children.

Ameisen, die schaffen viel!
Hans the rabbit, the central figure in our other German as a Foreign Language projects in elementary school, goes for a walk in the forest and meets many ants.
This animated book for children from 4 years old contains 12 drawings in DIN-A4 format with illustrated texts in four languages about the life and work of ants.
