Manifesto Agenda Summit (M.A.S•)

Exhibition and Film screening|Presents UBON AGENDA 2020: Vara Varin

Ubon Agenda @Manifesto Agenda Summit

The Ubon Agenda opens for the first time under the title “The hidden agenda”, another initiative from Khon Kaen Manifesto founder Thanom Chapakdee. An abandoned school was chosen as the event venue. Its ailing walls and dusty staircases become the backdrop for the exhibits. The theme being “war and conflict” allows them to blend in the exhibition space seamlessly. Thus, the Goethe-Institut Thailand presents a selection of war films, among them Alexander Kluge’s experimental film “Happy Lamento” and the four part film installation “Serious Games” which deals with the use of virtual reality in modern warfare.
A former public school as the selected event venue symbolises the state’s obligation to educate young people and help them becoming participative, responsible citizens under equal rights. This sends out a strong message in times where young Thais are actively demanding their right to participate and shape what they deem equal and responsible.
