THE PEOPLE VS. FRITZ BAUER depicts crucial years in the life of Frankfurt Chief Public Prosecutor Fritz Bauer, as he attempts to prosecute the leaders of the National Socialist regime and the resulting difficulties he encounters in post-war Germany. Fritz Bauer receives vital clues concerning the whereabouts of SS Lieutenant Colonel Adolf Eichmann, who was responsible for the preparation and organization of mass deportation and the murder of European Jews. Ever since his return from Danish exile, the Jew and Social Democrat Fritz Bauer had made it his objective to take the perpetrators of the Nazi regime to court. The film shows his unrelenting efforts to bring Adolf Eichmann to trial in West Germany.
