A discussion, workshop, and retelling of the contemporary work of German literature ‘Mr Jensen Quits’, written by Jakob Hein and originally published in German as ‘Herr Jensen steigt aus’ (Piper 2006).

This short novel recounts the story of Mr Jensen, a postman who is laid-off after a decade of faithful work and who responds by withdrawing to his apartment to wonder why we have to be so busy all the time.

What would it be like if, starting today, he just didn’t bother with the world any longer?

Let’s read, talk, and write together before withdrawing from the world in the company of two Thai writers, Uthis Haemamool and Rossanee Nurfarida.

Withdraw from the world in your own way to unburden yourself and retell your story.
