Hypnotic divine names, strange poetry, curious vowels, eerie overtones... and above all six voices hovering around one perfect chord for seventy minutes.
This is the essence of Stockhausen’s classic 1968 work Stimmung, one of the most famous works of 20th-century music. It is inspired by the chanting of Buddhist monkstransformed into a meditative, magic masterpiece.
Stockhausen’s work will receive its Thailand premiere at the Goethe-Institut Thailand this August. This cosmic, transcendental composition is presented by members of the Calliope Chamber Choir, under the direction of Somtow Sucharitkul.
Singer: Calliope Chamber Choir
Conductor: Somtow Sucharitkul
Because of the unusual nature of the piece, the seating will not be a conventional stage and audience. The audience will surround the performers.
