All students receive a minimum of 30-45 minutes daily in the target language, German. All lessons are based on Bible stories attached with language proficiency skills and concepts. Students have additional opportunities outside of the classroom to practice their skills and learn more about German culture through the following: field trips, the FASG high school German competition, AATG National German Exam, family German funfest with Rollins College, Faschingsfest with the Paragon School, the German Christmas market at Rollins College, and a German Club.

German ISD provides full-time, weekday German language instruction to children 18 month to 10 years through creating a learning environment deeply rooted in the central European culture and education system and encouraging the development of a global perspective and community building. The school focuses on learning through child-directed play experiences and a curriculum based on the “Bayerischer Bildungs- und Erziehungsplan fuer Kinder in Tageseinrichtungen”. The language concept for elementary school beginning in kindergarten is based on the Dual Immersion Method. The goals of dual immersion programs are to develop bilingualism/biliteracy, academic achievement, and cross-cultural competencies for all students.

Orange Hunt Elementary School has a partial German Immersion Program for students in first through sixth grade. MSL is a 6-12th grade language immersion school that offers French, German and Spanish. Students enter our school from one of the elementary immersion programs. The German program was started in 1982 and currently has 200 students. In 6th grade students have 4 hours, in 7th grade 3 hours, and in 8-12th grades 2 hours of German a day. MSL has been recognized as a PASCH school since 2010 and offers the DSD International Language Exam.
