Scholarship Program for German Teachers DaF/DaM

The Goethe-Institut Johannesburg annually provides German teachers from Southern Africa with the opportunity to apply for an in-person scholarship for the German summer (June - August).


Applications open from 9 - 29 October 2025.

German teachers (DaF/DaM) residing and working in one of the following countries are eligible to apply: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Zambia, South Africa, Swaziland, and Zimbabwe.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum B2 proficiency level
  • Actively teach German (as a foreign language) at a school or private institution
  • Valid passport
  • Mandatory participation in the blended learning phases
  • Must have a laptop and access to WiFi
