Ses’fikile - siwu mndeni (We’re here, we’re family) is a free event that includes a film premiere, an exhibition of imagery and live performances. Celebrating inclusive queer spaces within club culture, it will be hosted at club Zer021, which has a long history of creating parties that cater to a marginalized group of queer individuals within the city of Cape Town. The event will host performances by FAKA, Angel-Ho, Queezy, and more.

The film premiere will screen a short film directed by Jabu Nadia Newman & Luvuyo Equiano Nyawose, highlighting the importance of representation in mass media of queer and trans bodies of colour. The exhibition will showcase imagery taken on set by Daniel Walton, a body of work that will includes large and dramatic portraits of brown and queer bodies.

Realised in collaboration with “Goethe-Institut Project Space” (GPS). GPS is a multi-disciplinary roving project space which supports work realized all over South Africa ranging from workshops to exhibitions, events and performances; including visual art, literature, film, music, dance and theatre projects.
