The Goethe-Institut South Africa is looking for an Accounts Assistant from the 01.03.2026 for a limited period until 31.03.2027. The scope of employment is 50% (20 hours per week).
The position is remunerated according to the current remuneration scheme for local staff of the Goethe-Institut in South Africa.
The Goethe-Institut e.V. is a federal intermediary organisation whose objectives are to promote knowledge of the German language abroad, to foster international cultural cooperation and to convey a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information on cultural, social and political life.
The Tasks include:
Data management & Payments
- Validation of invoices in e-invoicing system
- Data management of creditors in SAP
- Petty cash management incl.
- Monitoring, recording & reconciliation of cash advances
- Monitoring and management of supporting documents of cash receipts
- Participation in the execution of cash audits, incl. preparation for cash protocols
- Preparation of payments on online banking platforms
- Support with general office tasks in the administration, e.g. filing, archiving
Requirements:
- Completed commercial training or equivalent skills and experiences in the commercial field
- A pronounced understanding of numbers and IT affinity, especially a very good knowledge of Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. German language skills are desirable and/or the willingness to improve one's own German language skills through language courses
- Willingness to familiarise yourself with the Goethe-Institut's processes, standards and payment methods
- Application of structured, responsible, committed and careful working methods
- Punctuality, quick perception, ability to work under pressure, reliability
- Work permit for South Africa
