Iryna Iaremenko from Kiev has created a great worksheet with self-made photos. The students learn from a  worksheet how to talk about their sports successes with simple sentences and how to ask about sports successes of others. The modal "can" is central, with conjugation in the present tense and the formation of simple interrogative and declarative sentences.

Step by step in class

1. Grammar: Explain the meaning of the verb "can" and go through the conjugation.
2. idiom: explain how to express that you can do something well, not so well, or not at all.
3. Have students do the worksheet.
 
In addition to the worksheet, Iryna Iaremenko has created a great how-to-video. The video is in Russian and German and therefore, not usable for everyone - still don't miss it, it will serve as an inspiration for your own videos and teaching materials.

Additional ideas

Possible tasks in advance:
- Collect sports that learners already know in German.
 
Possible tasks during:
- You can prepare task 1 as a matching game. Cut out the pictures and sentences and let the students match the sentences to the pictures in small groups.
 
Possible tasks afterwards:
- An interview can be prepared in which questions are made with "you". "Are you good at playing soccer?" etc.
- Students can make a quiz, for example by making five sentences about their sport successes, one of which is not true.
 
Optional: possible task while watching the video:
Students write down all the sports that they hear in the video.
