#SonicWilderness is a practice that takes musicians, artists, thinkers, and any interested person outside, to engage sonically with nature and public space. The emphasis is on listening, interacting, collaborating, and playing together with any sounds that can be found by exploring these spaces.
 
The initiative has been held in diverse locations and constellations since 2011. In Yogyakarta, #SonicWilderness focuses on female music practitioners. Five female artists/projects have been invited to work together over the course of the festival week:  Asa Rahmana (ID), Ayu Saraswati (ID), Joee and I (PH), Menstrual Synthdrone (ID), and Sarana (ID).

Interested female artists, practitioners, students and audience members are invited to join #SonicWilderness for a 2 hour long workshop. The workshop will start with introductions and simple instructions and collaborative exercises, and might move outdoors to a location nearby.  Participants are invited to bring small portable instruments or mobile electronic music and recording devices, if they wish (not required).
