Singer, Composer and Researcher
Mohamed Adam

Mohamed Adam is a singer, composer, and researcher from South Darfur in western Sudan and currently lives in Omdurman. His musical career began in the city of Nyala, where he sang as an amateur in a band called “Childhood Friends.” From there, he went through various stages and eventually settled in the field of folklore. He works with different rhythms, styles, and moods of music that originate from the various ethnic groups of Sudan. He is also fascinated by the idea that music can reflect the identity of the people it represents, bring people together, and promote peaceful coexistence. He is the co-founder of the Negara Project, which aims to collect and disseminate the ethnic and traditional Sudanese music of everyday life. For him, researching and producing contemporary Sudanese music is a means to overcome the boundaries between the different regions of Sudan. Mohamed Adam seeks to develop a shared awareness and renew cultural connections between generations in order to change the image of Sudan and highlight its diversity and rich cultural landscape.
