

What happens on the streets and pavements of an Indian metropolis of twelve million inhabitants? What type of people walk on these streets? What do they do, what kind of lives do they live? Which are the sounds of such a city? What is its pulse? Is there a way to consolidate all this in an art project?
During his four weeks stay in Kolkata, the vibraphonist Christopher Dell got to know the Bengal capital, and its citizens, from all its angles. He has played and improvised with his instrument at ten of the city’s most distinctive locations. “Kolkata Monodosis” is the outcome of that experiment, a ten-part musical intervention which can be witnessed on this website.
