Abbas Khider wins two German Literary Awards

The Iraqi author Abbas Khider has been awarded two distinguished German literary awards. He will receive the 2013 Nelly Sachs Prize as well as the 2013 Hilde Domin Prize for Literature in Exile in recognition of his literary work. Khider has published three novels to date: Der falsche Inder (The Village Indian/2008), Die Orangen des Präsidenten (Oranges from the President/2010) and Brief in die Auberginenrepublik (Letter to the Eggplant Republic/2013). The Village Indian has come out in English translation and is published by Seagull Books. Abbas Khider will be at the Bangalore Literature Festival on 29 September. More ...
