Call for proposals management of the Goethe-Institut Kamerun Cafeteria
The Goethe-Institut Kamerun is launching a call for proposals for the operation of its cafeteria, located at its Bastos premises in Yaoundé, beginning November 1, 2026, or later. The cafeteria should be a welcoming space that fosters interaction among course participants, staff, partners, and the public.
- Objectives
Our vision is for the cafeteria to become a vibrant, warm, and welcoming gathering place. The challenge is to develop an attractive food and beverage offering that meets the needs of a diverse clientele, including course participants, Goethe-Institut staff, and the public. Drawing inspiration from Cameroon’s rich culinary heritage, the menu should creatively and thoughtfully reinterpret local flavors into a unique, modern, and innovative culinary experience. The offering should remain accessible to a clientele with limited budgets while meeting high expectations in terms of quality, taste, and customer experience.
2. Mandatory Minimum Hours
- Breakfast: 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- Lunch: starting at 12:00 PM
- Open during the Goethe-Institut’s regular hours and during events
3. Expected Food Service Offerings
- Two-meal-a-day plans: between 1,000 and 2,000 FCFA.
- Local dishes (Sanga, Koki, Okok, etc.) start at 1,000 FCFA.
- Vegetarian option (e.g., Folong with a fish side dish)
- Three-meal-a-day plans to be determined by the service provider.
- Variety of salads, finger foods, pastries, and local snacks
- Fresh juices, soft drinks, various coffee and tea options
- Sale of alcoholic beverages to the public is permitted, in accordance with regulations
4. Concept and Innovation
The applicant must present a clear concept demonstrating how they intend to attract and retain the various target audiences. Attention will be paid to culinary innovation, food design, promotion of local products, and the creation of a unique identity for the cafeteria.
5. Setup and Operations
The Goethe-Institut provides the space and furniture. Heating plates are permitted. No full-scale production kitchen is available. The service provider must submit a layout plan, a list of planned equipment, and details of the proposed investments.

- Coffee breaks for seminars and training sessions
- Lunch catering
- Cocktail parties and receptions
- Special packages for cultural events
7. Business Strategy and Communication
The proposal must detail the marketing strategy, customer acquisition, communication initiatives, differentiation from the competition, and the cafeteria’s promotional plan.
