German Youth Camp Freiburg

  • Meet teenagers from all over the world
  • 2 day trips included
  • Cultural and leisure programme
  • 72 lessons over 3 weeks

Freiburg stands for sunshine and vibrant life – this university city in the Black Forest has a particularly warm and relaxed atmosphere. The Freiburg Bächle, with their crystal-clear water, offer perfect refreshment: just dip your feet in, especially after a trip up Schlossberg. At our youth camp, participants can not only discover fascinating traces of history, but also experience how Freiburg, as a “Green City”, is shaping the future with clever ideas and modern solar technology.

Learning German at the foot of Schlossberg

The summer camp in Freiburg is aimed at young people aged 15 to 17 who enjoy city life. The accommodation is just a few minutes from the beautiful Old Town, and the large solar installation on the façade and roof is immediately noticeable – typical for Freiburg, known as a pioneer in renewable energy and innovative technologies.
The two- or three-bed rooms are ideal for making friends from around the world. Meals are fully provided: three meals a day plus drinks and snacks, always with a vegetarian option.
On lesson days, German learning is on the schedule – in two to three blocks, participants practise listening, speaking, reading and writing. The lessons are practical and communicative, with language games, creative projects and varied methods that are genuinely fun.
What is learned can be used straight away: during a city rally, participants explore Freiburg and try regional treats at the Münster Market. Two full-day excursions also give plenty of opportunities to use their new language skills.

Streams, mountains, bratwurst: Freiburg highlights

The young learners of German have plenty of time to discover Freiburg. Their programme includes the historic market square, the impressive Freiburg Minster with its accessible tower, and the old city gates Martinstor and Schwabentor. Typical of the city are the small “Bächle”, the little streams running through the lanes – perfect for dipping your feet in and enjoying the city’s charm. South of the city, the Black Forest beckons with dense woods, cuckoo clocks and old legends.

One of the day trips takes the group to neighbouring Switzerland, to Basel. The city on the Rhine delights visitors with its charming old town and vibrant cultural scene. Wandering through the narrow streets, participants discover modern architecture alongside medieval buildings, visit museums and enjoy the river views from the banks of the Rhine. Shopping fans will also be pleased: Freie Strasse is one of Switzerland’s best-known shopping streets, and in Spalenberg – one of the most beautiful old-town quarters – small shops and creative studios invite visitors to browse.
