Join us on 11 October at 6 pm, for the first film as part of Andreas Dresen film series, ‘Gundermann’ a story about the East German singer-songwriter and coal miner, exploring his life and music amidst the complexities of a changing society.
Gerhard Gundermann (1955-1998) was an excavator driver in open-cast lignite mining, a Stasi informer, but above all a gifted singer-songwriter with a fan base in the GDR and in post-reunification Germany. Director Andreas Dresen dedicates himself to this contradictory personality in a sensitive biographical narrative, a modern musical homeland film for both East and West Germany.
